the factory

Here’s a peek into what we have been filling our weekends and spare moments with…building, coding, soldering, testing and building some more.

The project will have a hacked spray paint can that will paint with LED light rather than paint on a stretched, white surface.  A camera and projector behind the screen will track your light and “paint” back to the surface your drawing.

To change the color of your “paint” just push the paint can button in the milk crate of extra cans!

Burning Man 8/30/2010!

We are only a few weeks away from Burningman!  Come check us out on the playa!

From dusk til dawn come visit the Ghost Train and create your own digital graffiti. Throughout the festival a projection of a life-sized train slowly moves across the playa creating an infinite train-car canvas for participants to digitally paint with modified spray cans. As participants paint the projected train their work not only appears to move with the train but also reappears randomly on future trains throughout the event.

What is Ghost Train?

It all began as a digital graffiti installation at Burning Man 2010!

Ghost Train allows users to create their own digital graffiti by constructing a familiar train environment and supplying modified painting tools. Participants use a hacked aerosol can to produce a stream of light rather than paint, to tag their own designs on a digital projection of a New York City subway train. The light appears to adhere to the digital projection of a moving train car across the screen.

Throughout the event a life-size train slowly moves across the screen, sometimes stopping for a brief amount of time creating an infinite train-car canvas for participants to decorate. As participants paint the projected train their work not only stays with the train visually but also reappears randomly on future trains throughout the Burning Man festival.
